Index Reading

Wells Fargo/Gallup's Small Business Index resulted in an overall index score of 106 in Q1 2019. That includes a score of 46 for present situation, and 60 for future expectations. This is 23 points down from Q4, which was the highest mark since the Index debuted in 2003.

Business Preparedness

The survey observed how business owners assess their preparedness should there be an economic downturn in the future. 77 percent said they were somewhat or very prepared for such an event. 23 percent said they were not very or not at all prepared.

Also, when asked if 2019 would be a year of economic prosperity or difficulty, 67 percent said prosperity and 29 percent said difficulty.
