My memories growing up with my dad are very unique — because I would jump on the work truck with him and it was really fun because I got to see him interact with the workers and build those relationships with his crew and then extend that to the customers.
I think of all that now, and it's really it's been a learning experience.
My name is Vanessa, and I am president of Home Turf Texas Landscape and Design in Houston, Texas.
I decided to continue the family business because I love my family, and I love the things that we do for our customers.
One of the main things that has changed now that I'm president is my relationship with my dad has actually gotten a lot closer. He has taught me a lot of what I know. He plays a very important role within the company because he oversees all of the crews that are all onsite. He helps me delegate a lot of the tasks when we have a large project.
Bueno, me siento muy orgulloso de ver que mi hija tomó cargo de este negocio nos comunicamos bien y todo está marchando muy bien. Pienso que es una buena cosa para el negocio que ha crecido.
As a family owned and operated business, we just love to build on that bond that we have as a family and extend it out to everybody that we meet. If we can help them in any way, they know that they can count on us to do that. And the customers see that we care about our work.
We have very good relationships with our vendors and our suppliers, and we have good relationships with all of our subcontractors too. And so, when we’re there and we notice they've got a roof leak or they need gutters, then that allows us to introduce the service to them.
We all help each other in this company, and that’s one of the best things. I think that when I get to see my family every day, it's a blessing because not everybody gets to do that.
